Philodendron 'White Princess'
This product is sold out
This lovely lady produces beautiful patches of pure white on her leaves and pinkish edges on her petioles.
Philodendron White Princess is what is known as a 'self-heading' Philodendron variety. This means it has leaves that are spaced so closely on the stem that the stem is not visible until they are much older or until of the lower leaves begin to naturally fall off. This makes it unique from most other philodendrons which are distinctly vine-like.
These varieties make awesome indoor plants due to their abundance of beautiful foliage and stiff stems which allow them to remain upright for a number of years, unlike vining types which require a support to remain upright. They are also extremely good at filtering harmful chemicals from the air like Benzene!
Wait until the top 2-3cm centimetres of soil in the pot has dried out before watering heavily. Obviously it will take a little longer for the top few centimetres of soil to dry out in winter so be careful not to overwater in the colder months.
Bright indirect light and a humid position is great for these guys. For example an East or North facing window in your kitchen. They can handle less light but expect them to lose variegation as they will adapt to lower light levels by increasing the chlorophyll levels in their leaves.
Currently about 30cm tall but may get up to 75cm tall when mature making them a striking feature in the home.
