Lipstick Plant (Aeshynanthus Marmoratus)
Aeshynanthus plants, collectively named Lipstick plants or Lipstick vines, are a genus of tropical, trailing vines that originate from Southeast Asia. The name Lipstick Plant was derived from the, usually bright red, tubular flowers that resemble lipstick emerging from the tube. Aeshynanthus marmoratus can be distinguished from most other Aeshynanthus species by the unusual yet beautiful patterning in the leaves.
Water a you would most indoor plants, when the top 2-3 cm of soil in the pot dries out. The period between watering should increase through the colder months as it will take longer for the top few cm of soil to dry out.
An easy plant to care for, it likes bright indirect light but will tolerate more shade. As they are from the tropics of Asia they love humidity. Give this guy a spot to show off his beautiful cascading foliage!
They are currently approximately 20x25cm however each trailing stem may get up to 1m long if left to grow unchecked. Giving them a light prune after flowering will encourage the production of more stems resulting in a bushier plant and more flowers as they flower from the tips of new stems.
These plants are shipped in a 1.5L nursery pot that is wrapped in a calico bag to keep the soil in during transport. They will fit any pot from our Classic Pot Range.
